Mom drive all the way from CT to drop off a Easter basket for me...or V, whom she called Jessica. She leaves these care packages on our doorstep - it's rather disconcerting.
I got a slight sunburn from sitting out for an hour at lunch. Woo Hoo! I'm glad that spring has finally sprung.
Have a great weekend & for those of you who this applies to, have a Happy Easter.

Death for one ought not mean death for two.
We cannot die of grief unless we will.
Love requires us to love life still,
Lest love be less than life and death are due.
We cannot choose but choose for others, too,
For what we choose does what we are distill,
And open fields with inner sweetness fill,
That those who pass might hope or faith renew.
So may your love for loved ones that remain
Bring you through this season of despair
To some unquiet, sad, but gentle spring.
Emerging from your chrysalis of pain,
May you find a new world blossomed there
With new songs bittersweet that pleasure bring.

Tempest – very sorry to hear that GrandpaK is in hospice. I hope the prognosis changes. Let me know if there’s anything I can do.
"I mean, if we had a mortgage payment to make right now, I'd be scared" <--I had nightmares last night because Blixx said this last night after writing a big fat check to the IRS for 2001 self-employment taxes. F*cking nightmares! I went to sleep stressing about our money situation and was thinking about it first thing when I got up. I’m obsessing & this isn’t a positive thing at all. This rant has been sponsored by Lack of Sleep and Bad Attitude. Pick some up today!
When the savings account came up, I decided not to continue the 'discussion' based on my horrid mood & PMSing - anything I said would come out "Die! Die! Die!" We've set an appointment with each other for over the weekend to discuss budget plans. I'm dreading this. Blixx & I don't fight usually, but this might be an exception.
Blixx went out for some beers with Grips last night & I was so happy to see him go. I was borderline psychotic when I got home then all the money talk just pushed me over the edge. It would have been ugly. I’m still upset right now & would love to get the hell out of here since I can’t seem to concentrate on work, but then I’d have to go home & see him & talk to him. Yelling or crying, which one do you prefer?
In any team or partnership, each person brings certain skills and assets to the table. The key to being successful is to all be working toward the same end and be willing to do whatever it takes to get there. You both have to take initiative & responsibility to make things happen. You both have to start with a clear destination in mind to understand where you are now, where you’re going and what you value most – goal setting. You have to put first things first and organize around these priorities – what is most important to you and the team? Success is not achieved at the expense or exclusion of the success of others – life is a cooperative so work together. Listen to what other people have to say & value different opinions. Enhance yourself. This has been rampant paraphrasing from the Seven Habits of Highly Successful People, which is on my fridge and posted here at work.
What are my goals for 2002?: I want a house ASAP - I'm sick of our tiny ass apartment and we're throwing money away paying rent, when we could be getting tax breaks owning a home. This is my #1 Priority right now. Other financial goals: I want a new (to me) car by the end of the year. I'd like to be able to fly down to visit SherBear & FedExMan for a long weekend, maybe check out the parks I missed last trip. I would like to I would like to take a cruise/tropical vacation to celebrate our wedding anniversary in December. I want to get a better paying, less stressful job.
What am I doing to attain those goals?: I'm suffering doing the work of two people in order to gain recognition and an increased salary when they are released in June. I am seeking other employment opportunities here at work, which would increase my pay by roughly 25%. I search the Internet for alternate job opportunities at least twice a day. I forward my resume to only those jobs which would be upward mobility for me and I follow up with e-mails and phone calls to ‘check in.’
Tempest, funny story about a fired employee: We had a dude here who’d worked for the company for years and years. Sarcastic SOB, he’d been in trouble for being late & mouthing off inappropriately in the past, but no huge deal. Well, the dumb ass was on AOL IM with a buddy & went to send him a link. Unfortunately, he was also in an e-mail to some big wigs in our company & accidentally put the link into the e-mail that went out. It was a link to something regarding a big purple dildo and farm animals and the comment “What do EWE want to do this weekend?” I didn’t see it myself, but this story is legend around here. In any case, he’s hauled into the manager’s office and out he goes. He starts screaming that he didn’t mean it, why is he being made an example of, this is BS…he made a spectacle of himself. He’s escorted out of the building. Several days later, his manager goes to clean out his cube area for the next victim. Item’s left behind included several pornographic magazines & a drawer filled with muffin/bagel parts & what appeared to be cheese cubes (really gross old food) circa 1997. The best discovery was that he’d had a HUGE screwdriver taped to the underside of his desk. Weeks later, another employee bumped into him (drunk & smelly at some dive bar) & HAD to ask: “Ya gotta protect yourself.” I guess it beats bleach or drain cleaner in the eyes.

There are big changes going on here at work. It seems that the Ice Queen, the VP of Telesales, is being promoted out of the office. No word on who will be brought in to take her place, but this is a HUGE change for everyone. She's run the place the same way for so many years that the sales floor is all abuzz. Being the opportunistic gal that I am, I've already inquired if she's taking her Exec Assist with her. If so, that means the new person will need one and that's another opportunity for me.
On a similar note, UPN now has a 'reality' show called Under One Roof where 5 families (Mom, Dad & all the kids) move into the same 4 bedroom house in Fiji and perform Survivor rip off tasks in the hopes of winning the deed to the house. It's hokey & pretty funny.
We rented A.I. last night & I've got to give it a giant thumbs down. Haley Joel Osment whispers throughout almost the entire movie, to the point where I wonder when he'll start talking about seeing the dead people. It was long...strike that...it was L O N G. The story dragged on and on and on...I know that we were supposed to be feeling for the kid/robot, but I never did feel the love. In the end I felt more for the faithful teddy bear (that gets the kid/robot out of a shitload of trouble). The ending is absolutely preposterous and makes you wonder what the hell Spielberg was on when he came up with the Aliens excavating Coney Island. Anyway, I was lured in with the cool special effects shots in the trailer and was horribly & wretchedly disappointed. Arg! Yuck!
Buffy is a repeat tonight, but it's the episode called "Smashed" where she & Spike get it on for the first time. It's a HOT love scene and for those of you who are skeptical of my reasoning on why I'm addicted to the show, I ask that you all tune in for this one, at least the last 20 mins or so. The whole sex/violence scene is absolutely the hottest thing I've seen on TV. It brings down the house - literally. 8pm on UPN.
The Osbornes is on MTV again tonight at 10:30. From what I can gather from the promos, Ozzie gets mad at the neighbors so he throws a log through the window.
Taxes are done. More info to follow. Cross your fingers.
Peace.

Here's who won the Oscar's last night, if you were like myself & too damn tired of the blah blah blah to stay up past midnight watching. Woopie looked horrid every time I saw her. Ewwww!
We got the DVD player on Saturday night. After some heartache involving the VCR & the proper hookup proceedure for our system, it's all up and running. I purchased the complete 1st season of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and made it through the first disc. It had been forever since I'd seen the pilot. Angel was so very young and yummy & Buffy had a little bit of baby fat on her belly. We also picked up Close Encounters & Clerks. Blixx grabbed Highlander (his favorite movie of all time) for only $9.99. Gotta love a bargain! Today I joined Netflix's free trial for 2 weeks. I picked a whole bunch that Blixx had wanted to see - keep him busy during the day when he isn't working.
I made an outstanding chicken dinner last night. All roasted in one pan, I put in red potatoes, onion, garlic (unpeeled & peeled) & carrots. I topped that with two whole chicked breasts and added some white wine & seasonings. I served it with stuffing & roasted zuchini. It was super yummy, but what I'm really looking forward to is the soup I've got sitting in the crock pot right now. The chicken has been in there all night so it's falling off the bone. Blixx says he'll de-bone this afternoon. Then we'll add the noodles, more carrots & veggies - pretty much whatever I can get my hands on - and let it purc again overnight. Tomorrow's dinner is going to be out of this world. Already the cats are interested - Koya (the pretty yet dumb one) was meowing at the crockpot this morning like the power of that whining would open it up...then again, maybe she's on to something. I did use the power of whine to get the DVD player. Smart kitty. :)
Southwest Airlines is having a companion fare sale where you buy one ticket & a friend flies free. There are some limitations on exactly what flights etc, but I'm thinking that Blixx & I should take advantage of this & either head to Vegas (since it seems the IN thing to do this year) or down to Florida to see SherBear & FedExGuy. I definately need a vacation. We've pretty much decided that a house is more important to us than a big vacation so we'll be nickel & diming it this year. We'll be camping Memorial Day then again some time later in the summer in Bar Harbor. I LOVE Acadia National Park & want to spend a couple of days just wandering the bike paths and enjoying the shoreline. Other than that, we'll be taking long weekends or I'll occasionally bang in sick for Mental Health Days.
I'm still just trying to keep my head above water as far as work goes. It's so super frustrating.

Captain Jack will get you high tonight
and take you to that special island.
Captain Jack will get you by tonight
just a little push and you'll be smiling.
I was chatting about movies with some fellow employees and Swimming with Sharks comes highly recommended, especially if you enjoyed Office Space. Perhaps we'll rent it this weekend to play on our new DVD player. I think I've finally worn Blixx down that we have to get with the program. He was concerned that we'd need a new receiver and then speakers...I explained that the DVD would be the first of many updates to our current entertainment system. I think it might have worked. We'll 'happen' to be at Best Buy anyway. HA!
And she bursts into song!!!!
RIVERS BELONG WHERE THEY CAN RAMBLE
EAGLES BELONG WHERE THEY CAN FLY
I'VE GOT TO BE WHERE MY SPIRITS CAN RUN FREE
GOT TO FIND MY CORNER OF THE SKY
"No matter what, you just go along with it & make it a happy time." <--- my mother's quote of the day. She was speaking about my cousin's baby shower that's turning into a huge fiasco. It's a telling quote and I might even go as far as to say that it's her life's mantra. A sort of code that no matter how scarey & real reality gets, we should always put our best foot forward and have a happy time. She wants me to come visit for Easter & was increadibly upset that I don't consider it a holiday worthy of a visit. I told her I need the weekends to be my own time because I'm stressed out from work - true. What I can't say is that even speaking with her on the phone is exhausting for me and that I really don't want to drive 2 hours to eat a crappy dinner and alternate between her drilling Blixx & I for information & listening to her drone on & on about topics of no concern. Oh crap, I'm sounding like Ghost here. Hmmmm something to ponder there!
I'm going to see Big Head Todd & The Monsters at the Paradise in Boston in April. Toad is grabbing up some tickets. Woo Hoo! I haven't heard live music in a while & I love seeing shows at the small clubs in Boston. It's much more intimate. I saw Alannis Morisette at Avalon back right before Jagged Little Pill hit the charts & it was such a powerhouse performance. It rocked my world & the bonus was that we got in for free because we had friends at the FSC radio station. Sweet. Good Times.
LIFE'S A SHOW
Buffy:
Life's a show,
And we all play our parts
And when the music starts
We open up our hearts
It's all right
If some things come out wrong
We'll sing a happy song
And you can sing along
Where there's life,
There's hope
Every day's
A gift,
Wishes can
Come true
Whistle while
You work,
So hard
All day
To be like other girls
To fit in in this
Glittering world
Don't give me songs
(Giles: She needs back-up. Anya, Tara...)
Don't give me songs
Give me something to sing about
ah ah ah
ah ah ah
I need something to sing about
ah ah ah
ah ah ah
Life's a song
You don't get to rehearse
And every single verse
Can make it that much worse
Still, my friends
Don't know why I ignore
The million things or more
I should be dancing for
All the joy
Life sends
Family
And friends
All the twists
And then
Knowing that
It ends
Well, that
Depends
On if they let you go
on if they know enough to know
That when you bow
You leave the crowd
There was no pain
No fear, no doubt
Till they pulled me out
Of heaven
So that's my refrain
I live in hell
'Cause I?ve been expelled
From heaven
I think I was in heaven
So give me something to sing about
Please give me something
Spike:
Life's not a song
Life isn't bliss
Life is just this
It's living
You'll get along
The pain that you feel
Only can heal
By living
Have to go on living
So one of us is living
Have a great weekend all, & be sure to send a big birthday hug to RedSox for Blixx & I.
Peace out!

As for my readers here, it certainly makes me feel good when someone comments on a thread that I've posted or drops me an e-mail asking what's on TV, but I write for my own reasons and I don't expect all of you to like or care about what I post. It's that freedom that I enjoy most about blogging.
Cuthbert was in town?!?!? No friggin way! How's he doing? What's he doing? Who's he doing? Is he on the east coast for much longer? Tempest, tell me everything. Arg! Purge is in Boston - if he's bored tell him to give me a call & I'll come into the city.
I’m with Jade/Disney: Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series kicks ass! Blixx got me into the books back in the day and I'm eagerly awaiting publication of the 9th book of the trilogy. While each book is masterfully written, it's really the first three books that are a must read. Do it!!! I said DO IT!!!!
Plagiarized from Amazon: Set in a world where two kinds of magic exist, one female and the other male, the Wheel of Time series features as its hero Rand, who begins the first volume as a simple shepherd. A visitor soon sends Rand on an epic journey to unite the people of his planet against the Dark One, who threatens vast destruction. Rand's quest takes him through a dazzling array of meticulously detailed alien cultures and unforgettable characters. The Wheel of Time turns, and Ages come and pass, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades into myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the Age that gave it birth comes again. In one Age, called the Third Age by some, an Age yet to come, and Age long past, a wind rose in the Mountains of Mist. The wind was not the beginning. There was neither beginnings nor endings to the turning of the Wheel of Time. But it was a beginning.
Jaws is on TNT tonight at 8pm with Jaws 2 on at 10:45pm. Celebrity Boxing is repeated on Fox at 8pm as well – it’s worth a 5-minute click-thru. Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory is on ABCFam at 8pm. Devil’s Advocate is on TBS at 8pm – Keanu is a hottie & I’m sick of seeing Matrix over & over so this is a nice change. At 9 there’s The Jackal on USA & a repeat of Andy Richtor Controls the Universe on Fox – it was a good premier, quite quirky. You might enjoy it. At 10pm it’s slim pickins. On Discovery, they have The Search for the Giant Squid. Blixx watched this & says that they discovered that the giant squids have the same dna as these teeny tiny ones…meaning that the giants are super old. Not my cup of tea, but if you like the educational droning of these specials I thought I’d let you know.
I've got a departmental meeting tonight until around 7pm. Blixx dropped me off at work then went skiing - that rat! He was talking about kayaking this afternoon too, the nutball. He'll meet me over that the bar across the street when this reached meeting is over an we can have a couple of pops. He might get a chance to meet Dino, who I bitch about constantly but he hasn't laid eyes on yet. Tool.

It has been brought to management's attention that some individuals throughout the company have been using foul language during the course of normal conversation with their coworkers. Due to complaints received from some employees who may be easily offended, this type of language will be no longer been tolerated. We do however, realize the critical importance of being able to accurately express your feelings when communicating with coworkers. Therefore, a list of "TRY SAYING" new phrases has been provided so that proper exchange of ideas and information can continue in an effective manner.
TRY SAYING:
Perhaps I can work late.
INSTEAD OF:
And when the fuck do you expect me to do this?
TRY SAYING:
I'm certain that isn't feasible.
INSTEAD OF:
No fucking way.
TRY SAYING:
Really?
INSTEAD OF:
You've got to be shitting me!
TRY SAYING:
Perhaps you should check with...
INSTEAD OF:
Tell someone who gives a shit.
TRY SAYING:
I wasn't involved in the project.
INSTEAD OF:
It's not my fucking problem.
TRY SAYING:
That's interesting.
INSTEAD OF:
What the fuck?
TRY SAYING:
I'm not sure this can be implemented.
INSTEAD OF:
This shit won't work.
TRY SAYING:
I'll try to schedule that.
INSTEAD OF:
Why the hell didn't you tell me sooner?
TRY SAYING:
He's not familiar with the issues.
INSTEAD OF:
He's got his head up his ass.
TRY SAYING:
Excuse me, sir?
INSTEAD OF:
Eat shit and die.
TRY SAYING:

INSTEAD OF:
Kiss my ass.

I don't think you understand.
INSTEAD OF:
Shove it up your ass.
TRY SAYING:
I love a challenge.
INSTEAD OF:
This job sucks.
TRY SAYING:
You want me to take care of that?
INSTEAD OF:
Who the hell died and made you boss?
TRY SAYING:
I see.
INSTEAD OF:
Blow me.
TRY SAYING:
He's somewhat insensitive.
INSTEAD OF:
He's a prick.
TRY SAYING:
She's an aggressive go-getter.
INSTEAD OF:
She's a ball-busting bitch.
TRY SAYING:
I think you could use more training.
INSTEAD OF:
You don't know what the fuck you're doing.
Thank You for your assistance in this matter, with a little work we can all communicate with each other more effectively.
Thanks again,
The Management
