Work is a drag...and it's over

In other news, the temp thing at the radio station seems to be more temp than I thought, considering they cut me loose after this week. Well, they asked me to be receptionist again, but I can’t while Blixx is gone so oh well. When he returns from his journey we can have a talk about me working part time somewhere. It’s not even about the $$, although I’d like to be able to make at least my own car payment and insurance per month – not a stretch goal, but it’s more about me getting out of the house and involving myself in the world outside of Homemakerville. I’ve really enjoyed getting out and I think Blixx is much more empathetic to me since he’s spent so much more time with Cass. Now he knows how hard it is to get things done, keep a clean house, take a shower, take a shit uninterupted etc. It’s really hard to keep up momentum when she comes crawling or rolling into the bathroom and stares at you while you pinch a loaf.

Give it to Cassidy, she'll eat anything!

Cass is getting really big and not only does she crawls like a demon, but she is pulling herself up on things now. I dozed on the couch the other morning and she pulled herself up to poke me in the eye when she was hungry. Self serve! Blixx is so sure that she’ll walk for the first time while he’s gone, but I think she’ll wait for him, considering she’s only really been crawling for a month now. Late bloomer. She is into everything and despite the gates in the house, gets around very well. She loves pulling all of my cookbooks from the shelf in the kitchen when she’s ‘helping’ me cook. She was in the dining room the other day and pulled wallpaper off the wall & ate it, plaster still attached. Outside she eats grass. Inside she’d much rather find and consume the cat toys, rather than the million or so baby toys lying around. Some moms I’ve talked to say that they have a problem getting their kids to eat – not my girl! She’ll eat anything. My friend’s son is 7 months old and only eats rice cereal, and fights it the whole way. Cass’s new favorites include Goldfish and smoked turkey, but she had corn fritters and prime rib last night with no problemo. Granted, she eats small amounts at a time, but the only thing she’s ever turned down definitively has been broccoli, and who can blame the girl, right?

I swear that next week I will post new pictures of the little miss.

Colorodo or bust! Blixx, that is...

Blixx leaves for Colorado tomorrow. We’re going to go out for an early dinner then drive him into Boston. Damn, I hate driving around Logan Airport, but it was the cheapest flight so I guess it’s worth the hassle. He's flying to Denver then renting a car and spending a day driving through the Rockies to meet up with his buddies in Durango. While there, they will climb a mountain, hike all over & kayak/camp on a river, probably the Colorado or Dolores, depending on weather. I mean, imagine floating a river during the day, then setting up camp and sleeping next to it. I’m so jealous of the experience! Then he and Toad will set out and drive the trip back, camping on the way and meeting up with Toad’s sister to kayak in Ohio for a few days. He’ll be gone until May 9th, which happens to be Mother’s Day, and god help him if he isn’t home before midnight. Not sure what I’ll do for that day, probably take my mother out to lunch or something. If I really wanted to push it, I could take Blixx’s mom out too, but I’m not that crazy I don’t think. Or I’ll just sit around and wait impatiently for his return. That sounds about right.

What will I be doing to amuse myself for 2 weeks, other than changing shitty diapers and chasing my little rugrat around? Well, we have a baby shower to go to on Saturday for Grips brother’s (bastard!!) baby. Sunday we’ll hang around the house, then Monday – Wednesday we’re heading up to NH to stay with my mother & her Dick at the timeshare they have. THAT will be a clusterfuck, since MK and her kids will be there too, but what the hell, right? Grandma will watch the kid and I can take a nice long drive / walk / whatever by myself. OOOOOh, I can bring Toad’s kayak (he won’t miss it, being in CO & all) and take a nice paddle one day. Excellent, I love it when a plan comes together.

The following weekend we’ve got a carnival thingie at Holy Cross College with Grips family, & I think I’m going to invite Tempest & Jacknife up for the one of those days. (If you’re reading this, wanna come up?) I’m also trying to get a chicks only kayak trip together with Birdgirl & Teacher, but I’ve got to find someone to watch Cass for the day, which is a problem I’m still working on.

Isn't it Ironic?

So, we're on the way to pick up my new car, driving for the last time in the Cavalier. We're telling stories about the good times and travels we've had in the old girl, when I look at the gas gauge and notice that it's reading totally full. I ask Blixx if he took the car and filled it up for some reason, but he said no. I'd been running around town on a 1/4 tank for some time so it was weird that it was on full, but whatever, right?

We ran out of gas. On the way to the dealership to get the $300 trade in for the POS, she up and crapped out on us. A nice man gave us a push to a gas station, which was closed. So, we called Teacher & GeriDog to come with a gas can, but in the meantime we were able to find the gas station dude and beg him to turn the pumps back on.

After quite the adventure, we made it and picked up my BRAND NEW HYUNDAI SANTA FE. It’s got a moonroof and all the power options that I need and it’s comfy and I think I’m in love.

A Quickie

I'm working very part-time at that same radio station, this time as Assistant to the GM. It's pretty casual and since I'm a wiz at Excel, I am a goddess.

Cass is well. She crawls at light speed and pull sherself up on things. We went to CT for Easter with Mom & then stopped at Jacknife's and Tempest's houses. Tempest's dumb ass dog was wonderful with the baby, if not a touch too protective.

Got some $$ from inheritance and I'm buying a new Santa Fe. It's a shame that the only available one on the lot right now in the model that I need has a moon roof. Damn shame that, really. I actually got an auto loan all by myself too! My credit rating has definately benefited from home ownership and marrying Blixx. He married me for the family $ and I married him for his credit.

Nah, I love the guy. He's father of the year!
