Lots to write about but no time.

Pet Peeve: Girls who hold conversations with you thru the stall walls in the bathroom. Ok, so if you're out drinking with your girlfriends and you all journey into the bathroom together, it is acceptable to be chatting. It's one of the reasons we women tend to travel in packs. I'm in the ladies room today & a co-worker recognized my shoes and decided it was the perfect time to ask me some payroll questions. I'm trying to take care of business, and she's asking me about her holiday pay. LIKE I CARE!!! It bugs me. That's all I'm trying to say.

Peace.

The recommended site of the week:
Free Sexual Positions. Yep, you read that right. Go ahead and hit the link, it doesn't get too graphic until you get into it a little bit. Have you ever tried to read the Karma Sutra? It does a great job of describing positions, but I personally have had a difficult time wrapping my mind around some of the verbage. This site offers crash test dummie style visual aids so you get it right the first time! Woo Hoo!
This song came up on the CD player this morning, and I thought of...well, all of you.

Just Wait by Blues Traveler
Music & Lyrics: John Popper

If ever you are feeling like you're tired
And all your uphill struggles leave you headed downhill
If you realize your wildest dreams can hurt you
And your appetite for pain has drinken its fill

I ask of you a very simple question
Did you think for one minute that you are alone
And is your suffering a privilege you share only
Or did you think that everybody else feels completely at home
Just wait
And it will come

If you think I've given up on you you're crazy
And if you think I don't love you well then you're just wrong
In time you just might take to feeling better
Time is the beauty of the road being long
I know that now you feel no consolation
But maybe if I told you and informed you out loud
I say this without fear of hesitation
I can honestly tell you that you make me proud
Just wait
And it will come
Just wait
And it will come

If anything I might have just said has helped you
If anything I might have just said helped you just carry on
Your rise uphill may no longer seem a struggle
And your appetite for pain may all but be gone
I hope for you and cannot stop at hoping
Until that smile has once again returned to your face
There's no such thing as a failure who keeps trying
Coasting to the bottom is the only disgrace
Just wait
And it will come
Ever have one of those mornings where you should have just stayed in bed? There was no hot water in the shower this morning. I got my finger stuck in the ironing board...it's a super small cut that feels like my finger is falling off. It's a bleeder too. I burned the first bagel. The second one came out ok, but there was a piece of the first bagel in the toaster oven which caught on fire. I'm dxrying my hair and realize that I'm inhalling black smoke! So, there's smoke streeming everywhere in thick clouds. Thankfully it's supposed to be a nice day today, because I left all the windows open and the fan on to get the smoke smell out of the house. We've had problems with this toaster oven before so today it went to toaster oven heaven...the dumpster. I was late for work due to my adventures and of course Dino was looking for me first thing. What's a girl to do, but keep her head down and hope that the day goes by quickly.

I continue to be shocked and horrified that they would make Scooby Doo into a movie. Read HERE about the movie, but be ready to be scared. The fact that my girlfriend Buffy is in this really disturbs and disappoints me. What is the world coming to?

This Weeks TV Picks:

MondayTNT is airing the first episode of Witchblade tonight at 8pm. Tempest - you'd love this story if you gave it a chance. Classic storyline of good vs. evil, but the lines between the two are blurred. There's a nice historical element to the whole thing that I think you'll appreciate - Cleopatra and Joan of Arc both wore the witchblade before.

Humphrey Bogart and Katherine Hepburn in The African Queen (AMC, 7pm and midnight). A Classic classic. If you've never seen it - you should beaten like a hockey dad.

The Discovery Channel has Blue Planet: Seas of Life on at 9pm. This is supposed to be just beautiful!

Angel isn't even on in repeats, but there's a repeat of Smallville. Knowing that some of you are into comics, give this one 5 mins of your time. While certainly not true to the original story line, it makes for some nice fluff. It's Dawson's Superfriends.

Tuesday
I know I'm Buffy obsessed, but there really isn't anything else on, except the President's State of the Union Address. Grab a book, rent a movie...do something!

Wednesday
8pm on Fox: I'll be giving the 80's Show one more try. I didn't like the first episode, but I wanted to like it. So, it get's one more chance. Besides, it's either that or Dawson's Creek. Yeah, 80's it is.

9:30 on ABC: The Job. I love Dennis Leary. He's hysterical and if you appreciate dry humor you'll love it. This is a conflict with Titas (Fox), which I also think is a well written comedy. Pick one and laugh your ass off.

10PM on USA: Combat Missions. Ghost should like this one, as he's a fan of "Reality TV." It's an elimination contest between Special Forces, Army, SWAT & other branches of the military. They are broken into teams and put through rigorous combat missions. They have to do some really out there stuff.

Thursday
8pm Fox - The Family Guy. I love this show. Everything the baby says is hysterical. There's a repeat on right after it. Love this show!

The King & I is on AMC at 8pm. Shall we dance?

Friday
There's nothing on at 8, so don't rush home.

Dark Angel is on at 9pm on Fox. This is probably the last season this show will see, but it's good entertainment.

Iron Chef is on at 10 on the Food Network. I don't know what ever happened to the American version, but it's just so much better overdubbed. Last week's theme ingredient was corn...who knew you could do so much with corn?
PATRIOTS ARE IN THE SUPERBOWL!!!

Wow, what a game! With Bledsoe coming in to save the day, it was outrageous. I probably should have called in hung over to work today, as I'm a little under the weather from the celebrating yesterday. Great game - great team.

Go Pats!

Oh, for the record. Office Space was written & directed by Mike Judge. Tempest, you should still see it. It's got flair.
"Well, whenever I?m confused, I just check my underwear. It holds the answers to all the important questions. " Grandpa Simpson

Tempest - glad things are better. Seagull manager - that's some good stuff. Almost as funny as the visual I got of you beating your CEO with his own hard on. Balls to the wall & you'll be fine.

Hockey Dad Gets 6-10 years - I've been following this story, as it has a local connection. How many of us have been say waiting in line at Wendy's for a friggin chicken sandwich and wanted to reach on over and slam the stupid clerk's head against the counter until they understand that Yes you want fries with that? Or wanted to run the blue hair driving 15 in a 65 in the Caddie off the road? Or reached through the phone to strangle the telemarketing whore who has interupted your dinner? Violence is part of human nature...but do you think the punishment of this dad who had a nuttie at his son's hockey practice is fair? Discuss.

It seems that the advertising for the Superbowl will be missing a few standbys this year. Several big companies are opting out if the hefty pricetag on Superbowl ads and chosing instead to put their ads on during the Olympics. Only 3 dot coms will be represented - Monster, Hotjobs & Yahoo. Wacky when you think that there were 20+ dot com ads during the 1999 game.

_____

Mom's birthday is Tuesday, so I figured I'd have a crapass weekend having 'fun' with her. I can't tell you how happy I am that she has plans and we can't get together until next weekend. I know it's just putting off the inevitable, but so be it! It means that I actually get a weekend! I'm going to sleep - then eat - then nap - then eat again. It's the life of a cat for me. Yeah, that's right. Sloth!!!! We'll be watching the Pats vs Steelers game at DrJim's on Sunday, then heading over to Grip's house for family dinner. Homemade pasta lasagna is on the menu....MMMmmmmmmm! I'm just excited that I can relax a little in my own house.

Peace.

Ghost, WryGuy & Cat - I hope you're all feeling better soon!
Paul Atreides: I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me.

Tempest - you're giving that shit ass company too much of yourself. Too much time and too much emotional involvement. Don't let those bastards bring you down to their level. Sky is right in saying that you are so much better than they are. I let UniShippers get to me like that - the hours and demands made me loose sleep and have nightmares about shipments getting lost or damaged. I cried - a lot. I let my job consume me and I've vowed to never do it again. They are tiny rotten people hardly worth your time of day, let alone your tears. Don't get emotionally involved - it's only a job. There are other jobs out there (quiet Skye) and if FDK is giving you such grief, then maybe you should be looking elsewhere. On a related topic - I sent you some job postings from Monster to your home e-mail. I hope theres something there that interests you. I'll keep looking.

Nightskye - WOW. I got all choked up reading your blog. You're very sweet & I hope she takes your message to heart. You are a good friend.

Peace.

Check out Movie List for trailers of upcoming movies, as well as reviews. Cool site, so I thought I'd share.

Work still stinks.
Ok folks. I need your help. Blixx and I are thinking of heading out to Las Vegas for a little vacation later this year. We've never been, and we're looking for a what to see/what to avoid kind of thing. What's the best hotel to stay at? What's a can't miss show? You get the picture. Please hit the Rain on Me link at the top of the page to e-mail me. Thanks.

What will they think of next? Now there's Nicotine water. No shyt.
Ok, so how pissed off am I that the link to the Kevin Smith quiz doesn't work? Balls!

What I've been up to: Wednesday I drove into Boston for the Sales Conference. I HATE driving in Boston (Big Dig =Hell) and I'd actually rather drive on Long Island. Nope, not kidding. Anyway, I made it to the Copley Westin without incident, checked in and found that I had an hour or so to kill so I caught up on General Hospital, and even caught some Oprah. She had fat people on telling their stories about how they are ok with being fat, it's other people who have the problem. I ate a snickers from the mini bar while watching. I was at the conference to help out with registration - and ended up getting stuck with all of it. The other two girls who were supposed to help me got wrangled into other tasks, which left me handing out nametags etc to 250 or so folks that first night. It actually wasn't all that bad & I got to meet some folks that I'd been calling/e-mailing in Indy or our international offices. I must say now that the Netherlands produces some fine looking folks - men & women alike. Each was hotter than the last. It was quite remarkable.

Both days started entirely too early with tons to do, but the conferences themselves were quite interesting. The first day was just a bunch of Rah Rah Monster stuff, but the second morning they unveiled the Monster marketing campaign. Henry Rollins is the voice on our commercials this year, and he did a hysterical little promo just for us that had us all rolling. He's a funny dude.

***What I'm about to tell you can't leave this site. Burn your eyes after reading*** Monster has donated one of our Superbowl spots to Rudy Gulianni so that he can thank the nation for their support in light of the 9-11 disaster. I'm sure that the press will spin it that Rudy is sponsoring Monster or something like that, but I'll tell you the truth. Andy McElvey, the CEO of our parent company TMP, is a dynamic and really giving person. He wanted to make a donation of some sort, and actually worked his way all the way through the staff to get to Rudy himself. In discussing $$ amounts to be given to the 9-11 fund, Rudy expressed that he wanted to do a Thank You of some sort. Boom - one thing led to another and we've donated our very expensive commercial spot in the 1st quarter of play to Rudy. It's a touching spot and you should all watch for it. While shooting the promo, he had Rudy so a little shtick for the sales conference too which had us all rolling in our seats again.

There was much drinking and shenanigans - none of the specifics will interest you. It's a you had to be there kind of thing. Several managers and sales reps made total Asses out of themselves by getting piss drunk. Very funny. The highlight for me was that one of our reps is an accomplished musician and he grabbed the piano and was taking requests - a whole bunch of us were belting out show tunes. It was awesome! I haven’t sang (except for in the car to the radio or in the shower) in so long it really was a blast. Perhaps I'll try my hand at karaoke.

Drove to CT Saturday to get Jacknife a tattoo. Got a speeding ticket on the way. Poor Blixx got woken out of a nap to the cop asking for licence & registration. I've got the licence no problem, but my glovebox is a hellhole. Cop saw some baggies and got all freakie asking what was in them - potpouri actually...want to smell officer? He declined, gave me the ticket and walked away. Be warned - huge speed trap on Rt 84 just past the MA line at the weigh station. Good thing he didn't want to search the car - could have been really really screwed. I was thinking for a second about giving the cop a whole wrap about how I'm going to visit my sick grandmother, but then I realized that there was a case of beer in the backseat. Not really the gift you bring to a sick grandmother. Although, she'd probably appreciate it.

Jacknife got her tattoo and we watched movies and had a good time. Tempest was distracted by work. We're sitting in her livingroom bullshitting and she's got her laptop out doing a training schedule for work. The poor girl is working herself to the bone.I agree with Smithkid that she should Fook them. Fook them hard. So, I've created an agent on Monster for Tempest and I'll send over any relovant postings as they come in. Just because they gave a raise doesn't mean that they own your soul.

On memorials - I've been to my father's grave only once and it really didn't do much for me. I just think about him and he's there. The cement and stone don't have anything to do with him. I say that if they want an ethnicly diverse memorial for 911, then they shouldn't use the 3 firefighters raising the flag. Come up with something different, or shut the hell up. And if the statue is in stone or metal, it's not like you'll be able to tell what race the men are anyway...will ua? Am I wrong here? No...I'm never wrong. Ask Blixx...it was somehow his fault that I was pulled over. If he had been awake and amusing me, it never would have happened. Nope, it wouldn't.

Some interesting links to rot your brains:

MY SIDE SPLITTING LYAO SITE PICK OF THE WEEK:

Put your ex's picture on toilet paper or anything you chose. The posibilities are endless. I'm thinking this works for inlaws too. Makes excellent Christmas gifts.

Tell 'em off! A unique site offering e-postcards for every sick and twisted occasion. Definately not a Hallmark moment.

Uncommon uses for Shmirnoff vodka. Ya never know when the fact that you're a raging alchoholic will come in handy.

The Geek Hierarchy. Where do you fit in?

Top 20 Movie Mistakes of all time. Yes, LOTR is in there, but plenty of other good goofs too. I've seen the Matrix several hundred times, thanks to TNT, and I can't say that I've ever noticed any of the mistakes mentioned, but I sure will next time.

A map of Springfield USA. D'Oh! Some folks have way to much time on thier hands.

And with that, I'm off to the conference. Peace out until next week.

CRAMPS! I'M DYING OF CRAMPS!

Tuesday, January 15, 2002

Sorry WryGuy!

Work busy. Will be at sales conference in Boston tomorrow afternoon until Friday. Somehow have to get the rest of the weeks work done before then. It should be a good time - plenty of networking. Also management is planning an Around the World, so I bought a bottle of Absolut Kurant and some Sunny D. Mmmmm mixed drinks. Wouldn't mind one right now.

Plans for Saturday and the tattoo fest are coming together nicely. It will be a cluster-f, but hey, what isn't?

Anyone else want to beat the lazy SOB's that don't fully dust the snow off their cars? I almost died 3 times on the way to work when sheets of icey snowey crap came flying off the car in front of me to smash against my windshield. I'll kill those bastards.

New Angel last night was good. Buffy is a rerun so I think that when I'm done packing for the conference I'm going straight to bed. I doubt you'll hear from me in the next few days, so have an excellent rest of the week and weekend.

Peace.

Monday, January 14, 2002

Tempest - whats this crap about a 6 day workweek? Are we still on for tattoo's on Saturday? Does Jacknife have an appointment?
Ok UIM, I'll take back Coctail, but there's no way that Days of Thunder comes off my list. It's an awesome movie. C'mon..."Drive right through it!" I could watch that movie over and over again. Hell, I have! While I agree with several of your choices (Better Off Dead should be on my list - I feel horrible guilt that it was overlooked), I'm wondering what you're thinking including Liar Liar or Starship Troopers. Both are ...ok...but I think you're out of your mind to include Star Trek 6. Khan yes, any others? Forget about it!

Purge is pretty fly for a white guy? I'd pay to see that.

Saturday, I shopped until I dropped...the baby. Blixx ended up working with Grips in NH on Saturday, so I went shopping all day. I got a pair of black chuncky shoes (Blixx is still wondering why I might need another pair of black shoes - he just doesn't get it) and a little purse to carry my stuff at the sales conference later in the week. I got a pair of really nice black dress pants too. Very exciting. I then went over to have dinner with Teacher and V, hoping that the boys would be home in time for dinner and maybe a movie. Nope. We girls had a great time, except when I dropped V on her head. Yep, literally. I was spinning her around and goofing with her, as we've done thousands of times in the past, when I grabbed her leg to dangle her in the air...and got her pants, as they were pulled down and her little melon head hit the kitchen floor with a THUNK heard round the workd. She started to cry & wail. I almost cried - until Teacher pointed out that she could only sooth one of us, so get over it because babies bounce all the time. Still...it was horrible.

V got over it in good time and had me getting her juice and milking it for the rest of the night. I took her upstairs to get into her pajamas and she said the most dreaded thing: " Poopy in diaper." OK, I haven't changed a diaper since I babysat when I was 15. It's impolite to ask a girl her age, but be satisfied to say that was over a decade ago. I'm looking around trying to find any excuse not to change it, when I realize that there aren't any wipes upstairs. Woo Hoo! I can bring the dirty baby & new diaper downstairs to mom and she'll take care of everything.
V then points to what I think are diapers and says "Wipes there."
"No honey, those are diapers. We have to go downstairs for wipes." I explain.
"No...wipes!" and she hands me the bundle. Sure enough, it's an industrial size pack of wipes. Yeah.
I got lucky that there wasn't the alleged poopie ("I was joking.hehehe" says V) so we got her all changed and in her PJ's. She had to wear the pink ones, despite me finding the yellow feetie pj's just so much cuter.
Grips called the next morning to tell me that the diaper was on backwards. Yeah, mother of the year right here baby! I feel real cool.

I hope my misadventure has put a smile on all of your faces. It seems that many of you are a little down...SNAP OUT OF IT!

Peace.

Friday, January 11, 2002

In light of recent events in my household, I thought I'd share this helpful guide with you all. Happy Friday!

WORDS WOMEN USE

FINE
This is the word we use at the end of any argument that we feel we are right about but need to shut you up. NEVER use fine to describe how a woman looks. This will cause you to have one of those arguments.

FIVE MINUTES
This is half an hour. It is equivalent to the five minutes that your football game is going to last before you take out the trash, so I feel that it's an even trade.

NOTHING
This means something and you should be on your toes. "Nothing" is usually used to describe the feeling a woman has of wanting to turn you inside out, upside down, and backwards. 'Nothing" usually signifies an argument that will last "Five Minutes" and end with the word "Fine."

GO AHEAD (with raised eyebrows)
This is a dare. One that will result in a woman getting upset over "Nothing" and will end with the word "Fine."

GO AHEAD (normal eyebrows)
This means "I give up" or "do what you want because I don't care." You will get a raised eyebrow "Go Ahead" in just a few minutes, followed by "Nothing" and "Fine" and she will talk to you in about "Five Minutes" when she cools off.

LOUD SIGH
This is not actually a word, but is still often a verbal statement very misunderstood by men. A "Loud Sigh" means she thinks you are an idiot at that moment and wonders why she is wasting her time standing here and arguing with you over "Nothing."

SOFT SIGH
Again, not a word, but a verbal statement. "Soft Sighs" are one of the few things that some men actually understand. She is content. Your best bet is to not move or breathe and she will stay content.

THAT'S OKAY
This is one of the most dangerous statements that a woman can say to a man. "That's Okay" means that she wants to think long and hard before paying you retributions for whatever it is that you have done. "That's Okay" is often used with the word "Fine" and used in conjunction with a raised eyebrow "Go Ahead." At some point in the near future when she has plotted and planned, you are going to be in some mighty big trouble.

PLEASE DO
This is not a statement, it is an offer. A woman is giving you the chance to come up with whatever excuse or reason you have for doing whatever it is that you have done. You have a fair chance to tell the truth, so be careful and you shouldn't get a "That's Okay."

THANKS
A woman is thanking you. Do not faint, just say you're welcome.

THANKS A LOT
This is much different than "Thanks." A woman will say, "Thanks A Lot" when she is really ticked off at you. It signifies that you have hurt her in some callous way, and will be followed by the "Loud Sigh." Be careful not to ask what is wrong after the "Loud Sigh," as she will only tell you "Nothing."

Peace.

On the topic of wine,
QuietMan: "Chynakatt, what would you consider White Zinfandel? Red, or white?"
Chynakatt: " I don't consider it much of anything at all."

Not a lot of posting going on, presumably you folks are all out there getting material to amuse me during my morning coffee. The weekend is almost here and I'm excited because I really don't have to do anything at all. Blixx may be working up in NH on Saturday so I may have the day to myself. I actually haven't been alone in my apartment for more than 20 mins in months and it's starting to get to me. Ok, so everything is getting to me.

I'm premenstral...I can admit that. Hell, I'd wear a t-shirt proclaiming it, just so others would be warned. Work has been draining and I'm really bothered by the fact that Blixx works only a few days a month for the same cash that I bring in 40 hours a week. Granted, he works his ass off and it's a much more physical job...that still doesn't ease my hormonal mind when I come home from a day filled with bitches and assholes, to find him sitting on the couch reading the 4th Harry Potter book!!! Rather than take it all out on him, I'm quiet as I drink my beer. Very quiet. Spooky quiet. I watch Batman Beyond (repeat - BALLS!) and try to relax, only to realize that I didn't eat lunch yesterday and I've got the hungry horrors. Dinner...I've got to cook dinner.

This shouldn't be news to me, nor should it be a big deal, as I cook dinner almost every night. I cook, Blixx does the dishes. It's how we've done it for years now and it's worked fine. Yesterday I was stressed and angry that Blixx wasn't stressed. So, I stomp (literally) into the kitchen and begin to throw things all over in an attempt to make dinner. Now, on the ride home I'd had this little fantasy that Blixx used his psychic powers to see that I'd had it and that dinner would be on the table when I got home. Nope. So after a while of huffing and puffing and making a general racket, Blixx came into the kitchen warily and instructed me that he would cook the burgers and that I should go lay on the couch under a cat and relax. Normally, I would fight him just for the sake of fighting. Cruel, but it amuses me. Last night I just dropped everything and went to the livingroom to chainsmoke until dinner arrived. Blixx did a great job of not provoking my wrath and providing sustinance and I want you all to know that I HAVE A WONDERFUL HUSBAND.

I've removed the cursor thingie that swirled around at the request of Blixx. Our shitass computer at home just can't take the extra doodads and crashes when he tries to check to see what's on my mind or what the Hell my problem is.

I hope you all have an excellent and relaxing weekend. Let's all take out vitamin C so we are healthy again. I don't remember what it's like to live without a tissue box at close range.

Thursday, January 10, 2002

From reading blogs, it seems that this month has been filled with strange dreams and pregnancies. Yikes! Cat- you never said what grade you got on the test.

I fell on my ass yesterday when I went out to start my car in the morning. Our parking lot is an ice rink and I was wearing the cutest chunky shoes...turned too fast or something then WHAM! I twisted my ankle pretty badly and had to sit in the car (after hauling my fat ass into it, wincing the whole way) for a while until I could walk back upstairs. Of course it was the one day this week that Blixx was working, the downstairs folks and mechanic dude had already left for the day. If I'd hit my head I would have been there for a very long time. I know, happy thoughts, but the little spill put a dent in my assumed-invincibility. Sometime during the fall, I must have whacked my arm against the car. It was a little sore last night, and I now have an ENORMOUS bruise on the back of my arm. It's wicked sore, but I guess I'll make it. The fall was actually a symptom of my crappy day. I won't bore you with the details - I'm still overworked and underpaid. That's really all you need to know.

On Broadway: While I don't often give my mother credit for anything, I will say that she raised me with an appreciation for the arts. I've seen several shows, including many musicals on Broadway and my top pick EVER would be seeing Yul Brenner in The King and I. Of course I'd seen the movie and loved everything about it, but to see him dancing on stage was breathtaking. Thanks for bringing me to a happy place Ghost. I’d say my second favorite musical theater experience would be seeing Rent – that show really got to me and made me laugh and cry and was everything that a musical should be. If you haven’t had the chance…see it. Experience it. It’s been a few years (damn time flies), but I still have the tapes in my car and sing along – loudly!

The latest issue of Entertainment magazine has a list of the top 100 must have DVD’s. While I don’t own a DVD player yet (I know, don’t start) it got me thinking of my favorite movies of all time. Well, maybe not of ALL time, but these are all flicks that I’ll stop and watch, no matter where it is in the movie, if I find them playing on a Sunday afternoon on USA or TNT. I’ve been working on this list for a couple of days, yet I feel that I’m missing a bunch. Regardless, here ya go:

Lady Hawke
Breakfast Club (or pretty much any John Hughes movie, to a lesser extent)
Days of Thunder
Highlander – the sequels don’t exist to me
Blade Runner
Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome
Krull
Lost Boys
Close Encounters of the Third Kind
The African Queen
The Terminator & 2 (didja know you can see the terminator’s shlong? Watch the DVD real slow when he first appears)
Logan’s Run
Star Wars – all of them
Alien
Indiana Jones – any of them
Spaceballs
Dune
Gargoyles
Ferris Bueller’s Day Off
The Jerk
Fame
West Side Story
Desperado - Antonio Banderas is HOT
Die Hard
Four Rooms
My Friend Flicka
Half Baked
Stand By Me
The Hitcher
Jaws
Conan – any of them, including Red Sonja
Labyrinth
Lady & The Tramp
The Princess Bride
Top Gun
Evita – with Madonna…it was good. Trust me.
Reservoir Dogs
Zorro – Antonio Banderas is HOT
The Black Stallion
Pink Panther – any of them, although Return is my fav
The Dark Crystal
Cocktail
Carrie (duh)
Lassie Come Home
Poltergeist
The Outsiders
Apocalypse Now
The Crow – like Highlander, the sequels don’t exist to me
Braveheart
Pulp Fiction

Definately missing a few, but so far so good.

Peace.

Grips invited Birdgirl over to our house to hang out last night. It turns out she's a huge Buffy fan as well, so rather than a (feared) distraction she was a welcome viewing companion. Pity Blixx. It's ok if we make comments during the show, but if he so much as twitched there was a dual Shhhhhhh! There was a lot of the usual drinking and smoking and I feel like crap today to prove it.

Tuesday, January 08, 2002

For anyone who watched the Simpson's at 7:30pm last night on Fox, this site will be a whole lot funnier. The fact that it's an actual site is kind of wacky.

Dave Thomas died yesterday. Is it wrong that I'm craving a biggie fries and a frosty?

There's an asteroid hurtling towards Earth. No, seriously.

IT'S A BRAND NEW BUFFY TONIGHT, 8pm on UPN! Yeah, my withdrawls can stop now. I hear that she's cut her hair. I know I'm lame, but I just can't seem to help myself.

David Blaine: Street Magic is on TLC tonight at 9pm. If you've never seen this dude, check it out! I mean, you're 98% sure that it's all fake, but how the hell does he pull some of this stuff off?!?! He's good - real good. Also at 9 on Fox is their awesome drama 24. If you've missed it, there's still time to get caught up. They do a really good job of recapping what's been going on, and there have only been 5 episodes so far. The website is pretty cool too. I've had a thing for Keifer since Lost Boys.

I went home last night and got right into my pajamas, as predicted. Blixx (rested from his 4 hour afternoon nap - dick!) tucked me in with the electric blanket and I dozed for a few hours. He made me tuna melt for dinner then it was back to dozing. I think I've got to get something to block the sun from my eyes, because I keep waking up early with the sun streaming in at me. I think maybe it would help with my sleep problems. I just haven't gotten a full, good night's sleep since vacation. Or when I'm drunk as a skunk, as I was last Friday night. I tell ya, white wine just doesn't give me the next morning hangover heaven help me headaches that I'm familiar with. No, I'm not complaining. I don't like many white wines...but I think I might start. I'm willing to take suggestions.

I swear the New England Cable News network said that there would be 8+ inches of snow this morning when I woke up. Now, I don't mind driving in the snow at all, but it makes for a great excuse to be late or bang in for the day. I couldn't sleep at all last night, possibly from the excitement of the potential snow day, possibly because I've developed a new version of the sinus thing that's been going around for-freaking-ever. Blixx even said he'd get up with me (which is before noon & incredibly early for him) to clean off my car. Imagine my horror at the 1/2 inch of slush on my car this morning!!!! That's it? That's all we got?!? And I had little sleep so now I'm all strung out on coffee and diet coke. Perhaps chocolate will even me out? Can't hurt.

I have a zit right under my nose, on that fleshy bit of flesh right there. It's a relatively small as far as zits go, yet it is causing me much distress. Ever time I speak or smile or twitch I can feel it. I've inspected my foe in the mirror and it isn't much more than a small red dot under my nose, but to me it feels as if a volcano were slowly taking over my entire face. Paint your own picture there kids.

I had a vivid dream on Saturday night that I was pregnant...with twins. Really BIG and pregnant. I gave birth at a strange new age kind of place and that Blixx was working and didn't get there until the last minute (better late than never). I had two baby girls - Cassidy and Maeve. I've had those names in my head for years now. Too soap opera? Perhaps the dream was my biological clock going off again. Better hit snooze...again.

Guilt money came in from the family. Blixx has a line on some tax folks to help us out and said he'd make some calls today. Woo Hoo! My housing plan is right on track.

We rented Jurasic Park III over the weekend. It was horrible. Did I already tell you to rent Memento? Did you? What the hell are you waiting for?

Looking at the TV viewing for the rest of the week, I see that tonight Fear Facor has folks bobbing for plumbs in a tank filled with water snakes - that should be interesting. Samarai Jack and Justice League are both repeats on the Cartoon Channel at 9pm, but if you haven't watched before I suggest that you do. It's either that or watch Mariah Carey on Ali McSqueal. Or a boot to the head. Your choice. Tomorrow is a new Buffy - she cuts her hair. There's more to the episode...I think. I'm just psyched that we seem to be moving out of re-run-ville. There's nothing ever on Wednesday, but Thursday is the 2 hour finale of Survivor. I know I said I wasn't going to get into the damn stupis show, but I just couldn't help myself. Now, with it being the last ep, I've got to find out who wins. Friday is a new Dark Angel. Catch that show when you can, because I wouldn't be suprised if it got canned after this season. She's still hot as hell, but the writing for the show is getting beyond bad into really really sad.

I've got to make like a give a damn here at work.

Peace.

I've added Hapa to my links on the left. Aloha new friend!

No big plans for the weekend. I think the highlight might be to get a haircut. We tried on New Years Day, but everyplace was closed. Both Blixx and I are shedding more than the cats so I think we're overdue for a trim. Sunday Blixx invited Toad over to watch the game, but we've got a bday party for Teacher's crazy mother. With Nana's passing she's been down (to say the least) and lonely, so I think I'll show up at least for a little while and bring her something nice. Maybe some flowers. Keep your fingers crossed that the Pats don't totally f*ck up against Carolina on Sunday. Also pray for some sort of miracle that Buffalo beats Miami. I know - not incredibly likely, but it's good to dream. It would be too good to be true to have the Pats the division champs.

Ok, so Jacknife wants to get a tattoo of a front view of a wolf's face, but we're having problems finding just the right design. Anyone out there with too much free time on your hands, please let me know if you come across anything. I think we're going to scrap the Groton tattoo place where Purge got his done- I just wasn't impressed. They only had one book of custom work and seemed to have a lot of excuses, rather than helpful ideas for us. Boogie Shoes has recommended Studio Zee in New Haven, where she's gotten hers done. Some of the art on the page looks really great. Check out Zee's 5th page, 2nd row all the way on the right. That's the kind of vine/flower thing I've been looking for on my back & shoulders - except in a more linear pattern, rather than the circle. But damn close! Then I'd get a little butterfly right above it. I'm very encouraged.

So, how mad do you think Blixx will be that I printed out all of the tax forms he'll need to pay his self-employment taxes? They won't be as much as we thought, so I'm psyched. Yeah freelance is great, except they don't take taxes out of your checks so he's got to pay one lump sum at the end of the year. Next year I want him set up with quarterly payments so we don't get hosed again. Anyone know a good acountant? He's booked for work in January (&maybe Feb)which is awesome. He actually went to do a pre-light yesterday and impressed them so much that they let the other (cheaper) guy go and hired him for an extra day. And, they cut him a check right on the spot! Woo Hoo! That's my boy.

Wednesday, he went skiiing for the first time since he was a kid. Poor baby can hardly walk. Blixx quote "Skiing is a bit more athletic than kayaking." Uh hu.

Ok, I've got to make like I'm working for just a little while longer than the weekend can begin. Have a good one all!!!

Peace.
I overslept for work today. I snoozed the alarm with such force that it decided to get back at me by not operateing. Bastard! So, I'm apparently the most often late person here in my department. Quite the honor.

Found this on the net & it pisses me off:

Farscape has temporarily starbursted away from Fridays, but classic episodes still can be seen every Monday through Thursday at 8PM ET/PT. Look for all-new episodes of Farscape, beginning Friday, April 5, 2002, at 9PM ET/PT!

April! I can't wait for friggin April!
In regard to Lord of the Rings, I'd heard that there were several errors in the film. I didn't see any when watching the movie, and I'm usualy pretty good at spotting stuff like that. Blixx & Grips have taught me way too much about how movies get made for me to miss blatant errors in continuity. Check out Movie Mistakes for a whole big long list. I think some of them are BS, but Blixx asked me to research this so here ya all go.

CONGRATULATIONS TO WRYGUY & SPARKS! Woo Hoo! Way to go!
I'm back and was wonderfully relaxed until my alarm had the nerve to go off at 6:30am telling me that I had to go back to work. Crapass! I come in to find that 4 folks have been laid off and that more are coming every month. I'm not on quota, so I should be ok, but you never know. Then Youngster calls in sick, so I've got all HER work to do today, on top of the catch up from last week. Arg!

I'd thrown out my shoulder/neck last Friday...probably when hauling my stolen bootie of 4 bottles of champagne out to the car. Anyhoo, by Sunday driving to my mother's was painful and I embarassing, as I was moving stiffly just like my mother's Dick does. Monday driving to Boston was agony and I couldn't even hold the baby without crying out. Yeah, that sucked. Blixx thought it was perhaps stress related and I have to agree. By Christmas day I was pretty much ok and could play with V and it just got better after that. I come in to work today - haven't lifted anything at all or done anything other than sit in front of my computer and reply to the 67 e-mails that I condidered relovent - and my neck/shoulder are stiff as a board and kill! Yep, it must be stress related. BLIXX WAS RIGHT!

While overall my own Christmas and New Years were very nice, there was some sadness there. Nana...Grip's wife's grandmother....passed away on Christmas eve. She had told everyone that she didn't want to ever spend Christmas away from the family and I think she just decided to let go. Of course we're all very sad at the loss of such a beautiful person, but I think it's better than she went when she did, rather than to suffer needlessly. Yesterday my mother called to tell me that my uncle Garcia's father Paudie passed away. He'd been in and out of the hospital for years and in poor health for years before that, so I can't say that the news shocked me, but it is still sad to see him go. I worry that these things come in 3's. Please light a candle for each of these loved and loving people.

Over the course of my holiday vacation we saw LOTR, which we both found to be excellent. We rented Castaway, which I didn't mind once I woke up, and Memento. Go rent this movie...right now. It's a wacky story that starts at the end and works to the beginning, about a man who has no short term memory. Wicked good two thumbs up. We rearranged our livingroom to better accomadate guests...and our own loafing together. We can now both cuddle on the couch and see the TV. Woo Hoo! We're having a SuperBowl party, even if the Pats don't make it, and you're all invited. We cleaned out closets and filled 3 jumbo trash bags with clothes for Salvation Army. We did all of our laundry. We laid around and did nothing for at least 2 of my vacation days. We hung out alone, we hung out woth friends. All in all, a good time.

We celebrated our 3 year wedding anniversary by going out to Tiano's,a wonderful and expensive restaurant in Worcester. We went all out with cocktails, a goat cheese & chicked app that was out of this world, 2 fabulous dinners, then cappuchino's with out tiramisu for desert. We took our time and remembered years past and had a wonderful night. We followed that up with an hour at our hot tub rental place, where Blixx broke out with a bottle of champagne and candles to make the mood even more romantic. Oh baby...the hot tub was awesome!!!!! We've resolved to get one ASAP when we get a house.

I'm not one to usually keep resolutions made in drunken haste as the clock strikes midnight, but this year I've got one that we'll stick with come hell or...hell again! We're getting a house in the first quarter of this year. The closet cleaning is toward this goal, as I want the move to be as streamlined as possible. Step 1: taxes. I will do whatever I can to facilitate them getting done as early as possible. Step 2: The Mortgage. We were approved for a good amount before Blixx got laid off last Spring. We'll have even more in savings, as well as a healthy income to prove that he's not a risk. Even if we have to put 10% down, we can do it. No problem. Step 3: Find THE HOUSE. This one will be a snap, since I've been looking all along. It's that simple and so help me, I'll be in my own house in just a few months. I'm not sure that Blixx takes me seriously -he scoffed at me for asking him to start throwing stuff out that we don't need. He said I should be patient. Nope, not going to happen any more.I'm hell bent.

Got to go earn the benjamins. Peace.
