Week Roundup

Blixx took last week off to take care of Cass & I. It was awesome! Ok, so he needed a break himself. And, the lawn politely asked him to please MOW ME. But we were able to do quality stuff as a family & I got a much needed break from full time mom duty so everyone came away happy. Cass really bonded with her Daddy - I expected her to be a beast today cuz she missed him, but so far so good. She spent some alone time with her PBS while I showered & cleaned up a little, then we headed out & did some shopping. We stopped & visited Grip's mom GeriDog for a free lunch & she was super proud that Cass is walking. I hadn't realized that it had been so long since we'd seen her.

Let's see, we've been to the park a few times. We went to Hopeville Pond State Park in CT for a day trip on Thursday & Cass actually went swimming! She'd been super afraid of the water but Blixx was able to coax her in for a while. We took some super cute pictures of her naked little butt in the water. One of these days I'll update my picture site to share some more recent memories. We ate chinese buffet, which is always hysterical with her.

This weekend Grips & Red were nice enough to watch Cass for the afternoon so we could go on a date & see Alien vs Predator. What a crapfest that was! I mean really really bad. No suspense at all. The hero - never once did I give a shit whether she lives or dies. Very sad really. I mean, I wasn't expecting an Oscar or anything, but c'mon. We shoulda gone to see Hero instead. Live & learn.

We ate dinner with Grip's family on Saturday then Blixx dropped me off & headed over to Toad's to watch the Pats game. We were all going to go, but Cass has been waking in the middle of the night & running us ragged, so we didn't think an all night party at someone elses house was a good idea. I stayed home with her, drank a bottle of wine & painted my toe nails. It was actually nice to be alone (relatively) in the house for a bit.

Yesterday we went over to Callista & Dougma's house for a bbq. Man, was it hot out but we still had a good time drinkin & watching the kids run around. I went to bed early with Blixx (he had to be up at 5 to be on a shoot for 7am) then couldn't sleep a wink. I kept tossing & turning so I finally got up at around 2:30am and read downstairs for a while, then back up to sleep. Cass started to wake at 6 something, but I rolled over & apparently so did she cuz next thing I knew it was 8:05am. Much more reasonable!

I'm off to clean the house, do laundry, water the plants...all the things we blew off last week in order to spend time with each other.
