DirtDirt is OK. He even posted a picture taken from the roof of his building in Brooklyn. It’s the last entry under the Time Machine.
Blixx sent an e-mail to Eskimo yesterday but we haven’t heard back from him. Pray.
My boss was at a conference at the hotel right across the street. She returned to her room to get her belongings when hotel staff told her of the evacuation. Out her hotel window, she could see the tail of the 1st plane sticking out of the side of the tower. Once on the ground and on the run, she witnessed first-hand the 2nd plane’s impact. Later, when the tower’s collapsed, she said that the entire island of Manhattan shook with the impact. She ran all day yesterday, seeking a safe haven in the storm. Her blistered feet and burned lungs hurt today, but not as much as the remembered terror of what she’d faced – and what could have been.
She watched helplessly as people jumped to their deaths. She’ll have nightmares that the wonderful police/fire/rescue personnel that assisted her group in fleeing that may have never reached safety themselves.
As more time passes I am sure that we will here more stories of survival that will touch our hearts and minds forever. My heart goes out to all of you who have been personally touched by this terror. Some pictures of the events and aftermath.
I don’t think this is over. I think we will go to war. I just hope that we can protect ourselves and our allies from further attacks.
Hug your family and friends close to you and don’t take anything for granted.
Peace.
